Coast Guard Report . org (not to be confused with THE Coast Guard Report on Blogger) has MANY MANY problems.
Credibility - CGReport has none. This has surfaced because Thomas Jackson has repeatedly posted "anonymous" comments to generate discussion. As he has done this, readership for his blog has taken a nose dive. In addition to this, Thomas Jackson staged a fake "sale" of the domain. Did ANYTHING actually CHANGE? No. Thomas Jackson still maintains the site, still posts under different names to create an appearance of multiple contributors. He created a "Sea Service Group" to maintain the "new" site, although it is quite clear, not only by the EXACT same topics and obsessions, but also the misspellings, that it's still the same ole same ole for Thomas Jackson.
Interest - No one cares what Thomas Jackson has to say on his blog. He constantly obsesses over Terri Dickerson, Deepwater, and a few other "favorites" of his, BUT no one is reading it. This is mostly because he has destroyed his credibility. He "employs" Michael DeKort, who has been trying to live up his 15 minutes of fame longer than a VH-1 reality TV show star. He works with old information and now, basically comments on articles he reads. It wasn't until recently that people had voiced their distrust of DeKort, but his posts generally generate a line by line retort of his comments. In fact, his errors have almost created a following, people devoted to marginalizing DeKort in the bloggosphere like he has been in "the real world."
Not a team player - Thomas Jackson has alienated MANY bloggers. His posts are "out there" and his numbers suffer because of it. While he may refer to other blogs...they never refer to him.
Yesterday's news - Coast Guard Report has become yesterdays news. It has gotten to the level where Thomas Jackson actually has to discuss his points on CGBlog. No one feels the need to engage much on his own blog.
So, THAT is what is happening with CGReport, just in case you haven't been following Thomas Jackson's blog (not following that blog is probably the best use of your time.
